Back to School: Bus Safety

With the kids going back to school this week, there are somethings to think about both as a student, a parent, and driver being on the roads this time of the year! Consider the following:

1. Arrive early: Arriving early at the bus stop can help you stay prepared and focused while also reducing the risk of rushing and falling.

2. Stand at least six feet away from the curb or roadway: This helps prevent accidents and ensures that everyone stays safe while waiting for the bus.

3. Wait for the bus driver's signal before crossing the street: Bus drivers are trained to ensure that it's safe for students to cross the street, so always wait for their signal before crossing the road.

4. Use handrails when boarding or exiting the bus: Handrails provide extra stability and support while getting on or off the bus, reducing the risk of falling or tripping.

5. Stay seated and keep arms and legs inside the bus: This is important to prevent accidents and injuries while the bus is in motion.

6. Never distract the bus driver: It's important to let the bus driver concentrate on driving safely, so avoid distracting them or engaging in disruptive behavior.

7. Follow your school's guidelines for riding the bus: Each school has its own rules and guidelines for riding the bus. It's important to follow these carefully to ensure everyone's safety and security.

By following these tips, students can stay safe while riding the bus to and from school. Remember to always pay attention, follow the rules, and prioritize safety above all else.
