Veterans and Active Duty Military Homebuying
Veterans and active duty military members are making up an increasingly large amount of home buyers in the market today. This is in-part due to the VA home loan benefits and some of the other benefits brought on by over a decade at war (In Minnesota we have a Yellow Ribbon program that helps vets with some down payment assistance). We have more younger veterans buying homes.

As a veteran of Afghanistan I think this is a wonderful thing to have veteran buying homes. They come to the community (or return to the community) with an employable skill, they have a solid foundation of discipline and a solid work ethic.
The National Association of Realtors has some interesting characteristics about these veterans -
Unique to active-service military buyers: most likely to buy a multi-generational home and most likely to have children under the age of 18 in the home, have the youngest median age
Unique to veteran buyers: Largest group purchasing home as a married couple, have the oldest median age
Unique to non-military buyers: biggest reason to move in future is for better neighborhood, bought the smallest size home.
